The world is hurting, and we, as Christians, have a message of hope to bring to the hurting. We have a God who understands hurt. We have a God of compassion. And we have a God who will ultimately be victorious.
How we bring that hope to the world is up for debate. But there is no debate that the world needs to hear the hope that is in Jesus Christ. As the words to the hymn go:
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my Hope and Stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
Watch U2 sing their cry. I wish the church could speak with a voice that loud and passionate.
