This is truly a sad chapter in our history.

I was unaware of that. All jokes aside, I find it said that a Christian cult that doesn't profess much grace led him to perform an incredible act of grace toward these kids. It was not a popular decision to roll troops into an American city to enforce a law that the local government was defying. That took some political courage.
